Fairytales

By Blair Colbert

In the full moon's light, she rides her white steed.
Like a ghost that flows beneath her, he takes her where she needs.
Frantically she questions everyone she meets.
they prove to be no help, she begins to admit defeat.
she retreats to the forest where she meets a bird.
It sings her a song, the one she wanted to have heard.

She remounts her horse and rides off like the wind.
Through rain, snow, and fire, she rides without end.
She stops at an old house, where she sees a bruised boy.
He runs out and they embrace, both crying tears of joy.
She takes him to the forest, and she teaches him the ways,
of the people of the forest, where they spend many days.

Years later a man comes around in the night.
lean, dark, and hooded, he would give you a fright.
he sees the boy sleeping, he takes him away.
She finds his bed empty, she's mad he couldn't stay

She changes to armor, silver and glittering.
She fights through legions of darkness, she sends them all skittering
away from her powers. She reaches the villain high up in a tower.
They fight, but her might is stronger than his glower.
Right as she goes to deliver the final blow,
The man shifts into a beast, but she just goes with the flow.
She closes her eyes, takes a breath, and surprise.
when she opens them they are glowing like the stars in the skies.
white hot with furry, she obliterates the villain.
With her power of light, him and the chill in
the air are both gone. She is reunited at last
With her son that was stolen from her many times in the past.
