She Knows They're Here

By GracieLou
Miriam walks down the street dressed in all black leather.
No one knows what she carries inside her small black pocketbook.
Her eyes are blazed red with anger.
She feels people stare at her as she walks.
The eyes sear through her soul, they are judging her.
Miriam makes eye contact with a man. Does he know what her intentions are? Where she is going?
The bright lights flash on the bar sign.
Miriam enters casually ducking her head and enters the farthest booth.
An abundance of people are clustered but she knows they are here.
Just one glance and she will know the truth.
One small gesture and his fate will be sealed.
Most in the room have glazed eyes as they laugh hysterically.
Drinks slur and spill on the floor.
Then she finds him. He sits with his hand on her knobby knee.
The woman flips her hair and giggles menically as she sips her
martini.
Miriam holds back her anger and claws at the leather seats.
The clock seems to mock her.
Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock ,Tick, Tock
Rumors swirl across her eardrums. but she nudges them off
That ring on her bony finger meant trust
He kisses her lips with his drooling mouth.
Miriam sips her martini shaking with rage, the clock gets later
Hours pass and she begins to follow them.
At this point Miriam has lost all control.
Pacing and Pacing, ducking and hiding, she follows them into the cool black
night.
The man leads the bombshell into the rickety hotel door.
A do not disturbed sign is hung.
"5 calm breaths," Miriam says to herself.
The door burst open and she finds them together intertwined.
One last scream....
Bang.
