Cocoons
By Quinn Taylor
Cocoons are safe,
but they're also destructive,
change can be good,
but in order to change,
you must go through hell.
Caterpillars in a cocoon,
while they are protected,
melt themselves to mush,
before they emerge,
as a beautiful butterfly.
Change can be like this,
destroying yourself,
fighting internally,
so while a cocoon may seem safe,
on the inside its anything but.
This is why people fear change,
its hard, uncomfortable,
but you often come out,
more beautiful than you went in.
However, some do not,
Some leave too early,
or are forced out,
Some don't come out quite right.
Without interference though,
the pain and destruction,
from inside the cocoon,
can help you grow as a person.
On the outside it looks easy,
comfortable,
people might not even see,
they might not see the struggle,
but it is there, simply on the inside.
