Sometimes I Want to Say Things
By Matthew Mason
Sometimes I want to say things,
When words, like flowers, bloom.
Life is as twisted as springs;
I must scream, but to whom?
And then, when I start to Feel:
My chill- It starts to thaw.
I shut my mouth; I seal,
I shut my mouth; I seal,
But Feel escapes my jaw.
It sure beats rather quick-
Quick to judge, and tart,
Though my blood still runs as thick.
Yes, my brain is fast to think;
It brings me back to earth
-Where denser things will sink,
Accounting not of worth.
Empathy makes an appearance;
It's always right on time
(Always inconvenient);
We don't see eye to eye.
These things- I wish to scream-
When Heart beats with my head;
As I only speak in dreams,
I write this poem instead.
