Everyone Knows You Run Faster With a Knife
By Matthew Mason
My will is strong, or so I say,
But off to yet another day-
I find, once more, another way,
To sidestep all my strife.
Like a shipwreck- crashing, reeling-
Nothing but a sinking feeling
Draws me in, forever-sealing;
It's draining me of life.
Shaking from the confrontation,
Seeking out a revelation-
Meant to fix this situation,
I only find a knife.
Just right below the cervical,
Meant not for death, but critical,
Forever-nagging, cynical,
This blade shall be my wife.
My will is strong, or so I say,
But off to yet another day-
I find, once more, another way,
To sidestep all my strife.
Like a shipwreck- crashing, reeling-
Nothing but a sinking feeling
Draws me in, forever-sealing;
It's draining me of life.
Shaking from the confrontation,
Seeking out a revelation-
Meant to fix this situation,
I only find a knife.
Just right below the cervical,
Meant not for death, but critical,
Forever-nagging, cynical,
This blade shall be my wife.
