Destroy.Build.Destroy

By Beth Myers

we are mindless machines designed to destroy.
destroy. build. destroy.
destroy. build. destroy.
we destroy what we love,
and destroy what we hate.
we destroy our very being without hesitation.
destroy. build. destroy.
destroy. build. destroy.
when an error occurs in our programming, we are designed to destroy that as well.
a harmless error, yet it is seen as deathly.
an error programmed to love,
and programmed to save.
an error that, if left to its programming, could cleanse the hard drive of its destructive virus,
was simply deleted by a corrupted scanning software.
destroy. build. destroy.
destroy. build. destroy.
we lie to ourselves.
we do not destroy, we merely improve.
but how could we know any better?
we only do what our software says we must.
corrupted by faulty technical support,
corrupted by users we thought we could trust.
destroy. build. destroy.
destroy. build. destroy.
