A Place in the Darkness

By Carson Davidson

And so, and so,
With eyes aglow,
With fires alight
And the streams a’flow

Lift me from this quiet place,
Wrapped so tight in strips of lace,
Reflect the stillness of my face,
A darkened face, malice and mace,
A stain upon the darkened place,
The quiet place, descent of haste,
Formed by a struggling race
A darkened place, a quiet place,
A wavering, gone, and dying place
Trapped in the same punished haste,
Free me, now, free me…

A bird flies above sometimes,
Drifting slightly through the sky,
And as I look and wonder why,
I cannot return to floating;
And so, and so,
My eyes aglow, the fires are lit
And the zephyr blows
The wind that makes the streams flow,
Here in this muted place of low..
